Welcome to The Heights
A hip, urban oasis where professionals can escape the hustle and bustle.
Wandering the tree-lined streets and seeing the historic homes of The Heights, you might think you’ve taken a wrong turn and landed in a small town. However, you’re just moments from Downtown Houston!
The Heights is one of the quickest growing areas in the city and is composed of several distinct neighborhoods, including Houston Heights, Greater Heights, and West Heights. Together, they create a hip community that caters to young professionals who want to live in an urban oasis near the heart of the action.
These neighborhoods were originally considered streetcar suburbs of Houston when they were first founded in the late 19th century. Houston Heights had its own municipality, but they were all eventually annexed into Houston in 1919. It went through a low period after World War II, but by the end of the 20th century, the neighborhoods became a sought-after enclave and people flocked to live in the historic homes here.
The Heights is full of history — over 100 buildings on the
National Register of Historic Places in Houston Heights alone. The streets are dotted with Victorian homes and quaint bungalows, and there are plenty of luxury condos to choose from in the area as well. It’s a hot spot for renovations, and many of the new construction homes have been built to blend in with the existing architecture.
